Signal Integrity Solutions - Board Level Ferrite Components

Effective EMI suppression requires filtering close to the EMI source. Filtering close to the source requires placing components on the printed circuit board.  Laird Technologies is a leading global supplier of standard and custom-designed board-level components.

Components designed to filter individual “differential mode” circuit traces include ferrite chip beads, ferrite SMT bead assemblies, and ferrite filter arrays.

Common mode chokes are the preferred choice for filtering the common mode currents that cause most regulatory compliance failures.  Used on pairs of conductors, common mode chokes have two standout attributes: they cause vitually no signal degradation when used in data lines and they are unaffected by the highest dc currents.

Tuning or custom-designed filters are an integral part of signal integrity solutions.  Ferrite surface mount chip inductors are available to form the core of these filter circuits.

Differential Mode Ferrite Components

Differential mode components filter individual circuit traces.  These can be applied in data or power lines used in conjunction with ground planes or can be applied individually to dat/power supply and return circuits.

 

Common Mode Ferrite Components

Common mode chokes filter common mode EMI currents without causing signal dgradation and without derating under high power currents.  These components are applied to pairs of conductors – supply and return.
