Laird Technologies’ Activv Antenna Makes EDN’s List of Hot 100 Products of 2007

EDN’s Acknowledgement of the Company’s Internal Antenna is the Second Recognition by Industry-Leading Publications in 2007

St. Louis, Missouri, USA – February 12, 2008 — Laird Technologies, a global leader of critical components and systems for advanced electronics and wireless products, today announced its Activv Antenna was recognized by EDN Magazine as one of the Hot 100 Products of 2007. The Activv Antenna is a second generation internal antenna. The first generation of the device, Laird Technologies’ RadioAnt Antenna, won the Product of the Year Award for 2007 from Electronic Products magazine earlier this year.

Laird Technologies’ RadioAnt Antenna was introduced in June 2007 as the industry’s first miniature internal antenna circuit combination to provide FM, impedance matching, and signal amplification all in one unit. In September 2007, Laird Technologies’ introduced the Activv Antenna as the next generation antenna to replace the RadioAnt Antenna. The Activv Antenna offers the same basic functionality of the RadioAnt with improved performance and sensitivity in a smaller package.

“As the first FM antenna to be incorporated directly into a device, the RadioAnt was a very important product,” said product manager Stefan Lofgren.  “The Activv antenna is equally important because it is a leading-edge miniature internal antenna circuit offering improved sensitivity of 5 dB and delivering significant improvement in total electronic system performance.  Our goal is to continually refine and deliver the best possible product solutions for our customers.”

EDN’s Annual Hot 100 Products list is comprised of the products and technologies that EDN’s editors believe to be the hottest in the industry and include ICs, components, buses, boards, EDA tools, power devices, test instruments, and more.  The Activv Antenna fell into the Components, Actuators, and Sensors category.
