July 21, 2014 – Laird, a global technology company, has announced two of its advanced Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) antennas models have been deployed by a leading Japanese electronics manufacturer to provide solutions for critical data issues that ensure reliability of public safety systems, business information flow and personal communications.
The PDM24519, Laird’s WLAN 3-port multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) Antenna, is part of the Japanese company’s Wi-Fi system installed in the Shinjuku downtown area. The Shinjuku area is the most prosperous business district in Japan and a high-traffic data off-loading area for carriers. The PDM24519 delivers high-speed data service and enhances coverage in areas populated with obstructions, like in a city’s downtown, by taking advantage of both polarization and spatial separation with its three ports. Laird’s antenna ensures that people and businesses can rely on a stable, high quality data connection in this highly populated area.
Laird’s OC24527 WLAN Omni Antenna is installed along the pacific coast line as part of a tsunami monitoring system, put in place following the March 2011 earthquake and resulting tsunami off the coast of Japan. The OC24527 provides Wi-Fi to the monitoring system, offering full-band coverage for 802.11b/a/g/n with superior performance, is water resistant and salt spry complaint for use in these coastal areas. The warning system monitors sea level height with video surveillance that is then transmitted. By having Wi-Fi in the system, field personnel can check the information and monitor the sea level from anywhere, helping to save lives in the event of another tsunami through earlier warnings.
