Laird to lead discussion at International Wireless Communications Expo

March 24, 2014 – Laird, a global technology company, announced today that two of the company’s antenna experts will speak on Multiband Land Mobile Radio (LMR) antennas at the International Wireless Communications Expo (IWCE). The discussion will be tailored to the public safety market and focus on Multiband LMR antennas for Portable Radios. It will take place during the System Management and Infrastructure Track on Friday, March 28 from 10am-11am. This year’s event will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Las Vegas Convention Center, March 24-28.

Product development engineering manager, Chee Seong Por and vice president of technology, Adam Alevy’s discussion will cover antenna designs that can be used to simultaneously work at very high frequency (VHF), ultra high frequency (UHF), 700/800 MHz and global positioning system (GPS) bands. They will cover how advanced radio systems using multiple frequency bands require broadband antennas with optimized return loss and radiation patterns to achieve good signal coverage. This is of extreme value for situations where first responders operating on different frequency bands must work together.  

“Attendees at this session will learn about the requirements necessary for portable radio antennas with multiple frequency bands,” said Alevy. “In emergencies where fire, EMS and other public safety officials from multiple jurisdictions must work together, it’s important that they have equipment that will allow them to do so.”
