Advanced antenna solutions enable higher-performance 3G and advanced RF for notebooks, netbooks, and mobile internet devices
Laird Technologies, Inc., a global leader in the design and manufacture of customized, performance-critical components and systems for wireless and advanced electronics, today announced the expansion of its product portfolio focused on high-performance mobile broadband antenna solutions for notebook PCs, netbooks, and other mobile internet devices.
“The rapid emergence of 3G and other advanced networks is creating tremendous demand for higher-performance wireless solutions in portable computers. As the world leader in cellular antenna solutions for handsets, Laird Technologies is in the best position to design antennas to meet this mobile broadband demand,” said Stefan Löfgren, Laird Technologies’ General Manager of Mobile Broadband PC Antennas. “In fact, miniaturized netbooks provide very similar antenna design challenges as handsets, allowing us to offer custom, optimized antenna solutions based on our advanced antenna product portfolio.”
Laird Technologies plans to engage major OEMs and ODMs to help develop advanced solutions, including the use of Laird Technologies’ patented controllable antenna technologies.
“With the increasing popularity of netbooks and mobile computers in general, the notebook PC is now used in an expanding list of environments,” said Matthew Wilkins, Principal Analyst, Compute Platforms Research, iSuppli. “Access to WWAN and WiFi networks can allow the user to access their online applications and services, regardless of their physical location. These devices will require leading radio and RF technology to provide the desired user experience.”
