Leading Edge Antenna Supports Any Wi-Max Application Between 3.3 - 3.7 GHz
Laird Technologies, a global leader of critical components and systems for advanced electronics and wireless products, today introduced its Adjustable Beam Width Four Sector Wi-Max Base Station Antenna. Laird Technologies’ new leading-edge antenna operates across the 3.3 – 3.7 GHz frequency band and offers customers the functionality of four, single sector, ETSI CS2 compliant antennas in one antenna adjustable across four sector shapes, 45, 60, 90 and 120 degrees.
The antenna design follows Laird Technologies’ long established history of designing and developing high performance antennas in package sizes that set new industry standards and measures 715 mm x 181 mm x 83 mm thereby presenting a low wind load profile.
Sector adjustments are made via fasteners at the base of the antenna reshaping the backplane and changing the sector shape. These adjustments can be made without having to access the antenna housing allowing for quick and efficient site testing and installation. Most antennas allowing backplane adjustment require access to the antenna housing. This exposes the antenna to potential damage and moisture contamination after reassembly and makes field adjustment a risky and time consuming process.
“Laird Technologies recognizes that Wi-Max is a technology platform designed to provide next generation wide area wireless data system features and functionality and engineered the Adjustable Beam Width Four Sector Base Station Antenna to meet the needs of this growing market,” said Craig Somach, sales director, WIFA products. “Our new antenna has been optimized to support the highest levels of system performance that can be achieved for Wi-Max ETSI CS2 complaint sector antennas.”
Typical gain is specified at 17.7, 16.5, 15 and 14 dBi respectively. The antennas are provided with adjustable downtilt mounting hardware and are readily available for shipment.
